CCM Super Tacks 2.0 Senior Hockey Stick Review

CCM Super Tacks 2.0 Senior Hockey Stick Review

CCM has brought out a version 2.0 of their Super Tacks stick. Usually, when that happens, that means that they are doing an upgrade to an existing product. In the hockey world, they usually bring out a new name for the product. It’s not like how the iPhone went from 7 to 8 or is it 10… but you get the point. My point is that it is not usual for products to be named 2.

Who cares right? I don’t except that I actually thought that the CCM Super Tacks stick (o.g.) was pretty good. It was a good weight, good snap on it and held up pretty good, except for the blade. As the year wore on and the more I played, the blade was starting to disintegrate. Every time I would tape my stick, little pieces of carbon would peel off the blade. It was literally crumbling.

So how has CCM improved the Super Tacks stick? For starters, they have created a partnership with Sigmatex, a leader in the carbon fibre industry. Hopefully, that will take care of the crumbling issue. They kept the Reinforced Bumper Technology to add more protection for the shaft to help improve durability. They also included a Dual Force Profile, which basically means that the stick has two kick points for wristers or slappers. Finally, it has an ACU2 blade for stiffness and durability.

On the ice, you notice that the blade is stiffer. The passes were crisp and firm, my shot seemed the same as always but the puck did jump off my blade quite well. With rather little effort, my shot seemed hard and heavy and pretty accurate (for me at least). I think that the stick is an improvement on what was going on before. It did everything I needed it to do when I was playing.

The CCM Super Tacks 2.0 Senior Hockey Stick is a good improvement on the 1.0. The blade seems to be made with more thought on materials used. It has a nice grippy texture to it and it has been fun to play with. At $279.99, you should be expecting a high-end hockey stick and I think that CCM has delivered.

Hockey Gear Review recommends the CCM Super Tacks 2.0 Senior Hockey Stick to intermediate hockey players and above.
