CCM Tacks Hockey Stick Review

CCM Tacks Hockey Stick Review

The return of Tacks to CCM signalled a return to the past. Not only with the return of the Tacks Skates, CCM has also introduced a new Tacks Stick. The look of it is no different than most of the sticks on the market. It features the usual shaft shape that is comfortable in your hand. It is a rather stiff stick.
Tacks Stick1
It seemed to me that it took a bit more force/power to get my shots off. If I didn’t hit it in the sweet spot, it seemed to come off the stick kind of soft. But if you do get it in the right spot, the puck took off like a hot damn. If you do not possess super strength like me, you should consider going down 1 flex than you normally go for. Shots off the toe of the blade as opposed to the heel seemed to have more power to it. Maybe its the Mid Kick Point or I was getting better leverage but it seemed snapping the puck worked better off the toe.

The Tacks stick also left my hands a little sore from all of the vibrations. I suppose that means that the stick is quite stiff and sturdy. While the vibrations are a minus, the plus would be that the stick seems to be well made and durable. CCM claims that the stick will fatigue less and that will result in better results even after heavy use. I cant disagree with that. I think that the stick has held up really well due to its AttackFrame. The weight isn’t really an issue. It seems to be comparable to other sticks on the market. Remember that if you want a durable stick, you will have to sacrifice the light weight part and vice versa. Finally it has a tacky grip with raised textures underneath it. I noticed the texture in the dressing room but while I was playing, I don’t think it made too much of a difference.
Tacks Stick3
The CCM Tacks Stick is a good start to a new line of sticks. If you are looking for a durable and reliable stick, then you should consider ponying up the $259.99 it will cost you to get the stick. I think that if you are a big and strong kind of player, this is a good stick for you. If you like a little more control and whip, look elsewhere. As mentioned before, this a good start for V1 and with a few tweaks, I can envision the CCM Tacks stick becoming a go to stick for those looking for a mix of performance, reliability and durability.
Hockey Gear Review recommends the CCM Tacks Hockey Stick to players looking for a durable high end stick.
