CCM U+ Crazy Light Senior Shoulder Pads

CCM U+ Crazy Light Senior Shoulder Pads

Shoulder pads are a crazy thing. As you grow up, your parents buy you more and more protective shoulder pads. As you become an adult and play rec hockey, you regress to wearing almost nothing at all or some guys just forego shoulder pads at all.

As someone who has suffered two major shoulder injuries, I will always recommend that people wear shoulder pads. You never know what can happen out there and need to have decent protection. But I also understand where the battle in the mind comes from. You aren’t playing hitting hockey anymore and want to reduce the weight and bulk of the shoulder pads. Heck, I did the same thing. I still wore shoulder pads but they were basically shoulder caps and not much more!

That is where the CCM U+ Crazy Light Senior Shoulder Pads come in. I couldn’t believe how light they were. I used to call my old shoulder pads ‘paper weights’ and the CCM’s are even lighter. The pads only weight 750 grams! Nothing at all. They feature CCM’s U Foam which is water resistant and light weight. Basically it means that you will be comfortable for the entire game. They feature rigid plastic down the spine and center of the chest but that’s it. The biceps are covered by molded U Foam and the shoulder caps are also made of U Foam.

Don’t let the reduced weight of the shoulder pads fool you into thinking that the pads are whimpy. I can assure you that they are not. You only need to pick them up and inspect them and see how strong they are. While I am playing, they are extremely comfortable yet protective where and when I need them to be. I have great range of motion and flexibility but the pads also stay in place.

After playing in the CCM U+ Crazy Light Senior Shoulder Pads for quite some time now, I can definitely say that they are great pads. You are looking to upgrade to high end pads, then you should really consider these. The only drawback is the high end pricing at $169.99. It is definitely at the upper end of the scale, but I do think that you will get your money’s worth out of them. If you are a high level player, I highly recommend these to you. If you are an intermediate rec player or below, you may want to compare these to other options factoring in price, protection and comfort.

Hockey Gear Review highly recommends the CCM U+ Crazy Light Shoulder Pads to intermediate players and above.
